Small Scale Basic Model
A small card model of the final chosen chair design, at a 1:4 scale.
These first two images are of a first attempt model with a few dimension slightly out, so it doesn't quite work properly.
The rest of these images are of the model with all dimensions correct and that work.

Size of Material & Costing
The size the sheet of acrylic needed is as follows; -
Acrylic sheet size: 3050mm (l) x 390mm (w) x 12mm (t)
Which would cost around £115 - £130 a sheet, plus the small cost of the manufacture.
To make a profit, I would say this chair would have to market at the top end of the targeted priced range given in the brief of £180 - £200 per unit.

Material & Manufacture
The material I have chosen for my chair is sheet acrylic, clear coloured. The chair comes in a range of five colours which are all clear coloured sheet acrylic. The reasoning for this is I feel that it makes the chair feel more modern and unique, with the acrylic being clear coloured you can also see the whole chair from all angles throught the chair itself in some cases. This adds a new sense and experience to the chair, whilst giving it it's own personality.
The processes involved in the manufacture of the chair are only thre simple steps, laser cut, polished and strip heater bending. Firstly the section need to be cut out of the acrylic sheet for the chair, before polishing off the edges of the acrylic to add a cleaner finish to the chair at the end. Once these two things are done the sheet of acrylic can be bent it the places required to shape the chair. Giving you the finish product.
Sketch Work - Final Design
After narrowing down my ideas I had to choose which one I thought worked best as my final design, and this is it; (one of the first sketch has the measurements and dimensions)

Sketch Work - Developed Ideas
After building up a large collection of initial ideas of all kinds, I sat down with them infront of me and slowly flicked through each individual page and selected a small number of them that jump outof the page at me, had something about them and developed them with more detailed, larger sketches. I narrowed it down to these eight designs and sketched each one in; front view, rear view and beneath. All being in perspective views.

Sketch Work - Initial Ideas
All these ideas are just different ways of messing with the side profile of a basic chair, which are simple and only two dimensional.
